"Buttons" our first boxer was bought in 1978 a year after we were married purely as a family pet. The last in a litter of thirteen, she was just what we wanted, a red and white bitch with four white socks and on checking the standard we thought in our ignorance that she was perfect!

Her days were spent travelling round the farms with Walker or lying in front of the surgery fire with the rest of the vets dogs.

In 1980 we thought it would be nice to have a companion for her and so decided to have a litter. Once again in our ignorance we thought if she was shown and won some prizes her pups would be very much sought after so off she went to the local Exemption Show where she won a 4th prize! And the rest as they say is history, we were hooked.

"Buttons" really was not a great specimen as a show prospect but she was a good sized bitch with a well proportioned if plain head, good mouth and chin. She had a compact body with strong quarters - oh and flying ears!! More importantly she was a goodish producer and the foundation of WALKON BOXERS as it is today - every one of the dogs in the kennels at the present time nearly 25 years on go directly back to her.

Mated back to her Grandfather Ch Alldane Golden Wonder Of Trywell she produced Walkon Gin Fizz, our first real show dog whom we campaigned at open shows in Scotland with a lot of success. She had the odd place at the few local Championship Shows we went to although her half brother Walkon Pina Colada from a second mating to Ch Alldane Golden Topper Of Trywell had much more success at this level!

During this first five years of our showing round the Open Shows in Scotland we made friendships which still remain strong today and we believe gave us an invaluable grounding for the future in boxers.
